Something So Small Makes A Big Difference!
Support Ronald McDonald House and our Environment.
By collecting the pop tabs from aluminum cans and bringing them to RMH Charlottesville, you can help us continue to carry out our mission of keeping families close.
We receive roughly .50 cents per pound of pop tops and each year we raise vital funds through this program thanks to the support from schools, businesses, service organizations and individuals in the community.
Small Items Equal Big Impact:
10 lbs of Pop Tops Means (1) Meal for a Family
27 lbs of Pop Tops Means a (1) Night Stay for a Family
55 lbs of Pop Tops is an Entire Weekend Stay for a Family
190 lbs of Pop Tops is a Full Week Stay for a Family
DID YOU KNOW: The Pop Top Program at RMC Charlottesville generates on average $100.00 per month in support of families in need.

A pop top is the metal piece that opens aluminum cans, like soda cans. Other products, such as pet food and canned fruits and vegetables, may also use tabs but might not be aluminum. A simple way to identify aluminum tabs is to use a magnet; if the tabs stick to the magnet, they are not aluminum.
-
Pop top collections add up to make an impact in providing temporary housing and support services for families of pediatric patients. The value of the pop tops goes up and down throughout the year. But it all adds up to precious dollars that help the RMHC Charlottesville fulfill our mission! The program is an easy way for people of all ages to support RMC Charlottesville and know they are making a difference for families and children.
-
We collect pop tabs instead of the entire aluminum can because it’s more hygienic to store tabs than cans, and collection and storage is easier.
-
When we collect enough tabs to fill two 32-gallon bins, we take them for recycling. Did you realize it takes 1,267 pop tops to equal one pound.
