The Ronald McDonald House of Charlottesville exists to serve and sustain families when serious illness or injury strikes the most cherished part of their lives, their children.
The Ronald McDonald House of Charlottesville (RMHC) is the only organization that provides a temporary home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving treatment for a serious illness or injury in Charlottesville. In an effort to lessen the burden, reduce stress, keep the family intact, and enhance the quality of life for these families, the RMHC provides affordable housing in a caring home-like atmosphere.
How We Fulfill Our Mission:
- Our House provides rooms for families 365 days of the year.
- We serve the entire family with space for up to four family members in most rooms.
- We often provide a meal a day for every resident generously donated and prepared by community group volunteers; we have other food supplies available for other meals.
- U.Va. assists us by providing shuttle transportation to and from the hospital for residents.
- We offer a host of services and activities to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
- We connect families with other people who care and understand what you’re going through.
- We partner with community and corporate sponsors to fund the portion of each night’s stay not covered by the family’s contribution.
